An elderly man has died of dengue fever while undergoing treatment at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH) in Barishal.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Khaleque, 65, resident of Chargazi village of Bhola sadar upazila, say media reports.

Director of SBMCH Dr Md Bakir Hossain confirmed the death news while talking to newsman.

“Abdul Khaleque was admitted to the hospital at noon on Friday (yesterday) in a critical condition. The doctors of the SBMCH started his treatment but he died at 8:00am today (Saturday),”  said Dr Bakir Hossain.

As per the latest information, a total of 12 dengue patients died while undergoing treatment at SBMCH.
