Members of different authorities, including the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha and Dhaka South City Corporation, continued drives against illegal structures and closes at least five restaurants and a building for lacking fire safety and using spaces designated for other purposes.

Rajuk, in a drive on Tuesday, sealed off a restaurant and realised fine from another in the capital’s Beyley Road area.

Rajuk executive magistrate Monir Hossain Hawlader sealed Nababi Vog and fined Swiss Bechary Tk 1 lakh.

DSCC executive magistrate Jahangir Alam continued drive at Khilgaon and so far locked a building housed at least five eateries on Shaheed Baki Road.

Both of the agencies continued drives till writing this report at about 1:45pm in cooperation with police and fire service men.

The move came days after the deadly fire incident in the Bayley Road building Green Cozy Cottage housing several restaurants, which left 46 people killed and many others injured.
