5 schools on Bandarban border to reopen after one month

Shawdesh Desk:

Five government primary schools and a madrasa in the Bangladesh-Myanmar border area in Ghumdhum union under Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban district reopened on Wednesday after one month of closure.
Bandarban deputy commissioner Shah Mojahid Uddin said because of the unstable border situation, primary schools were closed on January 29. As the situation of the border has calm down, the decision to reopen the schools has been taken.
The six institutions are Baishpari Government Primary School, Bhaja Bania Government Primary School, Tumbru Government Primary School, Paschim Kul Tumbru Government Primary School, Dakshin Ghumdhum Government Primary School; and Dakshin Ghumdhum Miskatul Nabi Dakhil Madrasa.
Earlier, the district administration announced the closure of these schools due to the continuous firing and mortar shelling by the Arakan Army with the junta forces of the country from January 13 across the Myanmar border.
Later from February 6, the situation became normal but the administration kept monitoring. Finally, the administration decided to open the schools from Tuesday as there were no incidents of violence so far.
