ATM Shamsuzzaman’s 3rd death anniv today

Today is the 3rd death anniversary of popular actor ATM Shamsuzzaman. Abu Taher Mohammad (ATM) Shamsuzzaman, popularly known as ATM Shamsuzzaman, was born at Daulatpur of Noakhali on 10 September 1941.

He began his film career as an assistant director in Udayan Chowdhury’s film “Bishkonnya” in 1961.

His acting career started in 1965. He earned fame as an antagonist in Amjad Hossain’s film “Nayanmoni” in 1976.

Alongside acting, ATM Shamsuzzaman wrote more than one hundred screenplays. He was also a popular small screen actor. ATM Shamsuzzaman-acted notable dramas are “Ronger Manush”, “Vober Haat”, “Shilbari”, “Ghor Kutum” and “Nowoashaal”.

The legendary actor won six National Film Awards for Best Actor in Kazi Hayat’s “Dayee Ke?” in 1987, Best Comedy Actor in “Madam Fuli” in 1999, “Churiwala” in 2001, “Mon Boshe Na Porar Table A” in 2009, Best Supporting Actor in “Chorabali” in 2012 and the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

He was also conferred upon the Ekushey Padak in 2015 for his outstanding contributions to Bangladesh’s film industry.

The noted artiste breathed his last at his residence at Sutrapur in Dhaka on 20 February 2021. He had been suffering from various diseases due to old age for a long time.
