India should support voting rights of 18cr people in Bangladesh: BNP

Shawdesh desk:

BNP Senior Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has called upon neighboring India to support the struggle to reinstate voting rights for 18 crore people in Bangladesh.

“India is one of the largest democratic countries and thus the people in Bangladesh don’t believe that the neighbor will be a friend of Awami League’s vote rigging scheme,” Rizvi said while addressing a press conference in Dhaka on Monday.

The BNP is actively engaged in a spontaneous movement to reinstate democracy and voting rights for the people, Rizvi said and added that India would extend its support to the movement.

Earlier on Sunday India’s former external affairs state minister and renowned author MJ Akbar said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the victor of Bangladesh’s second liberation war as she had liberated the country from dictatorship.

In reference to the comments, Rizvi questioned how a seasoned journalist and politician like MJ Akbar, with his extensive knowledge, could advocate for a dictatorship and oppose the voting rights of the 18 crore Bangladeshis.
