80 workers hurt in Cumilla while leaving factory during earthquake

Around 80 workers of Amir Shirts, a readymade garment factory in Chouddagram upazila of Cumilla, was injured while leaving the factory building as a 5.6magnitude earthquake jolted Bangladesh on Saturday morning.

Chouddagram police officer-in-charge Trinath Saha told New Age that the incident took place at about 9:40am.

 

He said that the injured were taking treatment at the Chouddagram Upazila Health Complex.

Quoting the hospital authorities, the OC said that at least 15 of the injured people had visible injuries. Of them three were shifted to Cumilla Medical College Hospital and one of them was in a critical condition.

A 5.6magnitude earthquake jolted Bangladesh at about 9:35am which lasted for a few seconds, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located in Cumilla district.
