Suspected pirate killed in Cox’s Bazar gunfight with RAB

Shawdesh Desk: A suspected pirate was killed in a gunfight with the Rapid Action Battalion in Sairardail area under Motarbari union of Moheskhali upazila in Cox’s Bazar early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Nurul Kader Rana, 34, son of Nurul Hoque of the same area.

The RAB also seized seven arms, including one foreign pistol, and 63 bullets from him.

Mohammad Masokur Rahman, assistant police super and media officer of RAB-7, said that Rana was member of a Bay of Bengal based pirate group.

He was prime accused in the case filed in connection with the looting of MV Ma-Babar Dowa and MV Mahin robbery in the Bay near Hatieya island in Nohakhali on August 26th last.

His body handed over to the Moheskhali police and the police sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.

A case was filed with the Moheskhali police in this connection.
