A woman was killed being hit by a dustcart at Jatrabari in Dhaka on early Saturday.

The victim was identified as Nazma Begum, 46.

The accident took place in front of Bhanga Press in Jatrabari at about 5:00am on Saturday.

The victim’s family said that the woman came to Dhaka from Bhola on Saturday morning and she was going to Shonir Akhra in Dhaka by a battery-run rickshaw.

She fell from the rickshaw accidentally and a dustcart of Dhaka City Corporation ran her over, leaving her critically injured, the family said, adding that she was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead.

DMCH police outpost in-charge Bachchu Miah said that the body was kept at the hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.
