There is no sign of reduction in diarrhoea in the capital as the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) Hospital at Mohakhali in Dhaka saw admission of an average of 56 patients per hour on Friday.
The hospital also witnessed admission of maximum of 88 people in an hour yesterday.
There are treatment facilities in other hospitals in Dhaka. But this hospital faces more pressure, said director of the icddr,b Dr Baharul Alam.
According to sources concerned, 1,048 patients were admitted to the icddr,b hospital in the last 18 hours till 6:00 pm yesterday. Earlier, some 1,382 patients were admitted last Thursday, some 1,370 on Wednesday, some 1,369 on Tuesday and some 1,383 on Monday.
Doctors of the hospital informed that cholera patients are also being admitted along with diarrhoea patients.
