A case has been filed against eight persons including Assistant Commissioner of Police of Badda Zone for allegedly killing Safayet Mahbub Faraiji, a youth and resident under Vatara Police Station.

Shamimun Nahar, mother of the victim, filed the case with the court of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Dhaka on Wednesday.

Magistrate Arafatul Rakib recorded statement of the complainant and directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to probe into the case and submit a report within March 9.

The accused are Badda Zone Assistant Commissioner Toyaser Jahan, Sub-Inspector of Vatara Police Station Mashiur Rahman, Safayet’s girlfriend Sujana Tabassum Salam, her associate Aftab, Shakhwat, Ashwad, house owner Kamrul Haque and manager Ripon.

According to the case dossier, Safayet Mahbub Faraiji was US expatriate. In last September, he came to Bangladesh. Sujana and other friends used to meet him at his parental house in Rampura. Safayet’ mother Shamimun Nahar protested their visit to the house and was beaten. Following a telephone call by Shamimun, police rushed to the house and arbitrated the issue.

On December 10, Safayet along with her mother went to Gulshan and came under attack again by Sujana and her associates.

After receiving treatment, Safayet and his mother returned home. AC, Sub-Inspector and Sujana came to the house and insisted on accepting the girlfriend.

On December 25, Safayet came to the house with his girlfriend. Following resistance, he left the house and never returned.

The body of the victim Safayet was recovered from Vatara police station area on December 26 at around 6:00pm.

Safayet’s mother tried to go to the house where his body was found but the landlord and caretaker did not allow her entry. When she went to the police station to file case, the AC and SI threatened her.
