Chattogram police have filed a case against 40,000 unidentified individuals in connection with the recent attack, looting, and arson at the Kotwali Police Station in the city.
The case was registered on Friday afternoon by Ripon Kumar Das, the investigating officer of the Kotwali Police Station.
According to the case statement, miscreants with a procession stormed into the Kotwali Police Station and looted valuables and arms on 5 August following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government.
Besides, crucial documents, sensitive case evidence, and police vehicles were destroyed in a fire set by the miscreants.
The total damage has been estimated at around Tk8.3 crore.
SM Obaidul Haque, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, confirmed the matter and said charges were filed under various sections of the Penal Code of 1860, the Explosive Substances Act of 1908, and the Special Powers Act of 1974.
