Met office forecasts heavy rains in Rangpur, M’singh, Sylhet divisions

Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast rain or thundershowers in all divisions of the country, including heavy showers in three divisions commencing 9:00am on Sunday.

‘Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions,’ said a Met office bulletin.

Country’s highest 51 mm rainfall was recorded in Khulna’s Mongla in 24hrs till 6:00am on Sunday.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across northern part of Bangladesh. One of it’s associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
