None of 2 burned people out of danger: Health minister

The two people, who were critically injured in electrocution at Ratha Yatra in Bogura town on Sunday, are not out of danger, said Health minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen on Monday.

“They are now receiving treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. I have talked with the victims’ family and ensured them that we will do our best for their proper treatment. The government will bear all the medical expenses of those injured.”

The minister said these while visiting the victims at the hospital on Monday morning.
“The electrocution incident that happened at Ratha Yatra in Bogura town is very shocking. The two who were admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, are not out of danger.

Meanwhile, a five-member committee has been formed to investigate the deaths of five people from electrocution during Rath Yatra (a Hindu religious festival) in Seujgari Amtai intersection of Bogura district town on Sunday.
The committee led by additional deputy commissioner PM Imrul Kayes, has been asked to submit the report within 10 working days.

The committee included representatives from police, power division, fire service and civil defence and civil surgeon.

At least five people died and 43 others were injured after being electrocuted during Ratha Yatra in Bogura town on Sunday afternoon.
Bogura Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam said they provided each family of the deceased with Tk 25,000 for cremation of the deceased and took measures for necessary treatment of the injured.
