A pacemaker would most likely be installed in BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s heart today (Sunday), Law Minister Anisul Huq told reporters earlier on the day as he ruled out the scope for the opposition leader’s treatment abroad.
Khaleda Zia is out of prison only as a result of an executive order issued on humanitarian grounds, but the order has no provision of sending its beneficiaries abroad, the minister said after inaugurating the training course for senior assistant judges at Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) in the capital.
The government has not received any new application for sending her abroad, Anisul Huq said.
“As far as I know, the process for implanting the heart peacemaker on her (Khaleda Zia) has already started,” he added.
About media control, the law minister said existing laws would only target those using misleading narratives or wrong information while sparing others.
There is no need for formulating a new law for tracking the wealth of government officials, the existing regulation already require the officials to voluntarily disclose their assets, Anisul Huq said.
