At least 246 people were killed by lightning strikes across the country in last seven months, according to data compiled by an organisation. More 97 people also sustained injuries during the same time.
‘Save the Society and Thunderstorm Awareness Forum’ revealed the information at a press conference held at Resourceful Paltan City in the capital on Sunday.
The organisation gathered the data from at least 10 local and national newspapers, some online portals and televisions.
The victims include 30 women, six children and 8 youth and rest men.
Twenty two of the deaths were reported in Satkhira which is the highest in a single district.
