Unidentified people set fire to two parked CNG-run auto-rickshaws on Shaheed Shahidullah Kaisar Sarak in front of ‘Green Tower’ in Feni district town Monday early morning.

Police and witnesses said some people exploded crude bombs to create panic among people in front of the shopping mall and then set fire to the vehicles.

Iqbal Hossain, driver of one of the auto-rickshaws, said that the miscreants hit his head with bricks when he tried to resist them.

The driver said that a total of 12 or 13 youths suddenly set fire to the vehicles after coming out from an alley and fled the scene instantly. Later locals doused the flame.

Mizanur Rahman, in-charge of Feni town police outpost, said that they brought the damaged vehicles to the police station and a legal action would be taken in this regard.

Earlier on Sunday, some 26 vehicles were reportedly torched during the first day of the blockade.
