Bangladesh national killed in BSF firing in Sylhet

A Bangladesh national was shot to death allegedly by the members of the Indian Border Security Force at Telanji under Jaintiapur upazila in Sylhet district on Thursday.

The victim of the border killing is Rubel Hossain, 22, son of Ismail Mia of the upazila.

 

Locals said that the BSF members opened fire on some Bangladesh nationals when they went to the area near pillar no 1301 near Sari River to collect stones at about 6:00am, leaving three people injured.

The injured were taken to Jaintiapur Upazila Health Complex where Rubel succumbed to his injuries.

Two other injured—Abbas Mia and Mizan Mia–were given first aid.

Omar Faruk, officer-in-charge of Jointapur Police Station, said that they were aware of the incident and investigating into the matter.
