At least five people were killed in a road accident at Boalkhali upazila in Chattogram on Thursday.

The accident occurred as a bus and a CNG run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with each other at Rakhalipur area of Boalkhali upazila at about 9:45am, said Md Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Boalkhali police station.

Four passengers of the CNG-run autorickshaw were killed on the spot while another person succumbed to his injuries at Chattogram Medical College Hospital at about 11:00am, the OC said.

Of the deceased, three are identified as Md Selim, 45, Anjana Akter, 35, and Babul Dey, 60, the OC said.

The names of two other identities could not be known, he said.

Another injured person–Md Jalil, 24– was undergoing treatment at the CMCH, he said.
