Tamim Iqbal became the first Bangladesh batsman to score 15,000 runs across all formats of the game during Bangladesh’s second one-day international against Ireland at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on Monday.

Before Monday’s match Tamim was shy of 14 runs to reach milestone.

The hosts, who won the first match of the three-match series by a record 183 runs, lost Tamim to a run-out for 23 off 31 balls in the last ball of the 10th over.

Tamim overall hit four fours in his innings and two came off Mark Adair in consecutive overs.

The left-handed batsman would have dearly loved to get some runs under his belt after enduring a lean patch this year, starting with the three-match series against England.

An on his 34 birthday, before being run-out, the cricketer from Chattogram became not only the first Bangladeshi but 40th overall to reach 15,000 international runs during his innings.
