A quarter of students Dhanmondi branch of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, and their parents blocked the Mirpur Road in Dhaka on Tuesday demanding cancellation of shifting of the Dhanmondi branch.

They blocked the road for about four hours since 12:00pm demanding cancellation of the move to shift the Dhanmondi branch to somewhere else.

They also demanded to establish a permanent campus in Dhanmondi area.

The student then left the road at about 4:15pm with the assurance of the principal that the campus will not move anywhere else from Dhanmondi.

VNSC principal Kamrun Nahar told New Age that they are looking for land to set up a permanent campus at Dhanmondi area.

Mohamamd Abul Jobber Chowdhury, parent of Class VIII student of the school, said, ‘The school authorities are looking forward to closing the Dhanmondi branch campus and shifting its students to the other branches.’

He demanded that the school authorities should establish a permanent campus in Dhanomondi area.

Tanisha Azim Jahara, a Class VIII student of the school, said, ‘We do not want to go to anywhere from Dhanmondi. We will not leave the street until our demand is met.’

The principal also said that they did not take any move currently to close the Dhanmondi branch campus.

‘It is a rumor,’ she added.
