Shawdesh Desk: A suspect, involved in the lynching of a woman in the capital’s Badda area, was arrested at Narayanganj’s Bhulta on Tuesday night.
Police identified the arrested as Hridoy, 19.
A case was filed after Taslima Begum Renu was beaten to death on July 20, 2019, at North Badda in Dhaka over child abduction rumour.
Hridoy was arrested as a suspect in the case.
A special team of Detective Branch, east division, raided the area and arrested him around 8:30pm, said deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, media, Masudur Rahman.
Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Tuesday said people involved in mob beatings over rumours of child abduction would not be spared.
At least six people have so far been killed and 15 others injured in mob beatings triggered by child kidnap rumours. So far, nine cases have been filed and 81 people arrested.
The minister also said those who were responsible for the killings would be made accused in murder cases.
