Masud Rana, the fictional spy character introduced by Qazi Anwar Hussain in his popular spy thriller series with the same name, will be taking on the bad guys in the silver screen in an upcoming spy thriller, which will be made at a cost of tk 83 crores.
The film will be produced by Bangladeshi production house Jaaz Multimedia, along with Hollywood-based production company Silverline and three others.
The upcoming film will be made in Hollywood and shot at various locations in Bangladesh, Thailand and Mauritius. It will be directed by Hollywood-based film director of Bangladeshi origin Asif Akber.
Earlier, Jaaz received permission to make films on the widely read Masud Rana series from Qazi Anwar Hussain. The film’s screenplay has been developed by Jazz Multimedia chairman Abdul Aziz, Asif Akber and contemporary popular thriller writer Nazim-ud-Daula. Some script writers from Hollywood were also hired.
Masud Rana will be starring Hollywood stars like Mickey Rourke, Gabriella Wright, Daniel Bernhardt, Michael Pare and Indian wrestler Great Khali, among others.
The characters of Masud Rana, Rupa, Kabir Chowdhury and Rahat Khan will be played by Bangladeshi actors and actresses and the character of Sulata will be played by a Bollywood actress, the names of whom will be announced soon.
The film will be released at cinemas in English globally and in Bengali at cinemas in Bangladesh and Kolkata.
When talking about the film, Jaaz official Masud Rana said, ‘We have been granted three copyrights of the novels written by Quazi Anwar Hossain such as Dhwangsha Pahar, Bharatnatyam and Swarna Mrigya. The Bangla version of the film will be released in both India and Bangladesh and the English version of the film will be released globally. We want to popularise Masud Rana among film lovers across the world. More details regarding the film will be announced soon.’
