Booster dose can be taken 4 months after second dose: Zahid Maleque

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque on Wednesday said that people who have received their second dose at least four months earlier, can get booster dose immediately from the respective vaccine centers.

The health minister made the announcement during a press briefing at the health directorate in Dhaka.

He said the government will conduct a special vaccination campaign from March 17 to March 31 marking the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

 

Mentioning that 3.25 crore people will get Covid-19 vaccines during the campaign, the minister said among them around two crore people will receive their second doses while 1.25 crore will receive their first and booster doses.

Senior secretary to the Health Services Division Lokman Hossain Mia, Director General (DG) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr ABM Khurshid Alam, Additional Director General (Planning and Development) Prof Mirzadi Sebrina Flora were also present at the press conference.
