Two persons, including the husband of film actress Raima Islam Shimu, have been arrested in connection with her death.

Confirming the news, Md Maruf Hosen Sardar, superintendent of Dhaka district police, said a case is yet to be filed in this regard.

The body of the actress, who went missing a few days ago, was found inside a sack near Hazratpur Bridge in Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital, on Monday.

Abu Salam Mia, officer-in-charge of Keraniganj Model Police Station, said local people spotted the body in a sack near Alipur Bridge in the Kadamtoli area of the upazila around 10am and informed cops.

“The body bore several injury marks. We suspect she was killed by criminals on Sunday itself and her body was later dumped in the area,” the officer said.

The body was sent to Mitford Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
