Three friends were killed and three others injured as a passenger bus hit their motorcycle at Noagaon village in Purba Pagla union of Shantiganj upazila of Sunamganj on Wednesday night.

The deceased were identified as Layek Mia, 17, son of Angur Mia of Kaitak village in the upazila, Hridoy Ahmmed, 18, son of Jalal Uddin and Jamil Ahmmed, 18, son of Shafiq Mia.

Injured Nabil Ahmmed, 15, Kawser Ahmmed, 15 and Roni Das, 16 are being treated at a hospital.

The passenger bus of ‘RMJ Paribahan’ rammed the motorcycle carrying the victims at 9:30pm on Sunamganj-Sylhet road, leaving the trio youths dead on the spot and injuring three others, Kazi Muktadir, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shantiganj Police Station, said.

The OC also said police seized the killer bus and arrested its driver after the accident immediately, adding that, preparations are underway to file a case in this regard.

The bodies have been sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsies, he said.
