Sylhet has recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

A total of 2,566 samples were tested and 996 of them came out positive, taking the tally to 40,452.

Meanwhile, 9 have died in 24 hours till this morning, taking the number of total deaths to 702.

Dr Himangshu Lal Roy, Sylhet Divisional Director of Health, confirmed this information to media.

The current positivity rate in the district is 38.82 percent, he said.

Before this, the highest number of infections in a day was 802, recorded on Friday.

Of the latest cases, Sylhet district saw the highest infections as 399 people out of 975 samples tested positive.

Till this morning, 405 people were admitted at hospitals in the division. Among them, 286 are in Sylhet, 67 in Sunamganj, 30 in Habiganj, and 22 in Moulvibazar.

Apart from, 30,843 people have been cured from the disease.
