A giant tiger shark weighing around 200 kg got caught in a fishing net in the Bay of Bengal in Banshkhali upazila on Thursday night.

Redwan Majhi, a fisherman of Shekherkhil union, said they found the shark when they pulled off their net around 8pm and took it to Fisheryghat.

Mahbubur Rahman, senior fisheries officer of Banshkhali upazila, said the fish is known as the tiger shark.
He also said this type of shark is rare in this region.

Meanwhile, enthusiastic people thronged the Fisheryghat to have a glimpse of the giant shark.
