Former union parishad chairman of Sadar Kolakopa union of Nababganj upazila, on the outskirts of Dhaka, died of coronavirus or COVID-19 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Monday noon.

The deceased was identified as Taiob Ahmmed, 79.

He was admitted to the hospital after he tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday and breathed his last at 12:00 noon at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital while undergoing treatment.

He survived by his wife, only son, only daughter and numerous well wishers to mourn his death.

Dr Hargobindo Sarker Anup, medical officer of Nababganj Upazila Health Complex, confirmed the matter.
